"Skyline Abu Dhabi" - - - OPEN EDITION - - - Canvas

Motif information:

The motive is part of my started series "SuperUrbanism". The aim of the series and the present artwork is, on the one hand, to represent the sculptural appearance and aesthetics of urban buildings and man-made facilities through the exaggerated detailed depiction of urbanized spaces and scenes, partly also in contrast to the surrounding nature. At the same time, however, I would like to raise the question in the viewer´s mind about the necessity of such buildings, especially if they are merely intended to achieve new image-boosting "superlatives" and consume finite raw materials (e.g. sand for the production of concrete). Aesthetics, utility and resource-saving architecture with building materials that counteract climate change should be more important to us for our future than giving in to the human urge to break the next superlative in the sense of "higher-faster-further" .

The motif respectively the underlying original photograph was also taken by my father, Manfred Wagner, and thankfully made available to me. A big thank you to my dad :-))!
